Reviving a Seawall Icon - The Commodore on the Beach Gets a Fresh Start

May 15, 2025

Since 1966, The Commodore on the Beach has stood proudly along Galveston's Seawall Boulevard, offering guests panoramic Gulf views from all 92 rooms. Its mid-century modern design and prime location made it a beloved destination for beachgoers seeking the island's charm.

In May 2025, Good Bull Capital, a firm based in The Woodlands, recently acquired the hotel. Recognizing the it's potential, Good Bull Capital is committed to revitalizing The Commodore while preserving its unique character. They've entrusted WC Construction with this significant renovation project. Leading the charge is our Director of Construction, Sarah Stanley, who brings both expertise and a deep appreciation for the hotel's legacy.

The renovation aims to update guest rooms, enhance the pool area, and install a new elevator, ensuring the Commodore continues to serve as a welcoming spot for beachgoers. Additionally, the project incorporates energy-efficient upgrades, including improvements to the building envelope, HVAC systems, LED lighting, and low-flow plumbing fixtures, aligning with sustainability goals.

Situated at 3618 Seawall Boulevard, The Commodore offers guests easy access to Galveston's attractions. From the historic pier to local eateries like Gaido’s and The Gumbo Diner, visitors can experience the island's charm just steps from their rooms.

As we progress with the renovation, we're committed to preserving the unique character that has always defined The Commodore on the Beach. We're honored to contribute to this project, bringing our dedication to quality and community to the revitalization of a Galveston landmark.
